About us...
Hello! My name is Jennifer Phelps and I am a life-long dog devotee. My mom says my first word was "duck", but I'm sure I was trying to say dog:) I grew up with dogs, mostly mutts, always big! In fact, when I moved out on my own, the sole criteria for my new apartment was that I be allowed to have a dog. While Akitas are my true love, I appreciate all dogs big and small, and their unique personalities and quirks. My love affair with Akitas began in 1993 when my husband and I went to visit a litter of Akita puppies advertised in our local paper. Even non-Akita people will admit that there is nothing cuter than an Akita puppy! Of course we came home with one, Bear, our first Akita. The rest is history, as they say. Bear opened the door for us to the wonderful world of the Akita. From there we ventured into Obedience competition and eventually Conformation events. We do not keep many dogs here. We have a very small set up, and our dogs are our "kids". All are spoiled couch potatoes who occasionally go out and compete in the ring. I am a member of the Akita Club of America, and serve on the Public Education Committee for our Club. I am also a member of the Lorain County Kennel Club.
